To receive or send electronic transactions, you will need the following
equipment and software capabilities:
- A computer--mainframe, middleware or PC.
- Translation software to format your business elements into the ANSI X12 standard
formats for transmission or interpretation.
- Communications hardware--a modem and telephone line.
- Communications software to handle sending and receiving data.
- [OPTIONAL] A Value Added Network (VAN) to handle the last two communications items above.
- [OPTIONAL] An FTP server or access to an FTP Server and Encryption Software to handle
Direct Connect communications (which would replace the traditional VAN setup). This option
would be a solution for our higher-volume customers.
